2:00 pm Genetics of FTD Spectrum Disorders Beth Wood, MS, LCGC Beth McCarty Wood is the senior genetic counselor for the newly established Penn Telegenetics Program. She began her career in the genetics of neurodegenerative diseases in 2003, working in the Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research at the University of Pennsylvania. Beth continues to works with the FTD center on issues related to the genetic contributions of FTD. As a genetic counselor, Beth speaks with patients and families about questions and concerns related to the genetics of FTD and other neurodegenerative conditions. Along with her experience working in FTD genetic research, Beth has also worked on local and national studies for Alzheimer disease, Parkinson Disease, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. She is also involved in educating fellow genetic counselors about neurodegenerative diseases through authoring book chapters and lecturing via online education seminars. She received a BA in Biology from the University of Delaware and a MS in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. She is board certified in genetic counseling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and licensed by the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware, and California.
